Death is but the next true journey,
An escape to the unknown territory,
Where we come to finally rest,
Where we come to lay our head upon that white silk cloud,
Where all stress can be released,
Where we can cease to feel all pain we've ever known.
We go through growth phases of life,
The strife we felt cut deep like knives upon the surface of our bodies,
But what we held within ourselves,
The innocence felt when we were children, that was us,
After years of confusion and worry,
Abusing things that make our vision get blurrier,
Every second a moment in time that will live within us,
Brothers,
We've all seen the ups and downs,
The frowns and smiles,
Our strength was created and made with bumps and bruises,
Blood and sweat infused the bond we now see as love,
Love,
Sometimes that becomes a tough emotion to express between best friends,
We come together then we drift apart,
We start from scratch with new beginnings,
On our own creating life in other places,
But what makes brothers more special than others is always love,
We'd be there through thick and thin,
Right now, tomorrow, next week and decades far beyond,
Together we can watch our families grow,
Together we can watch our paths unfold,
Together we can laugh at stories told,
And cry from memories that we hold,
My brothers,
I watched my brothers carry brothers through the cemetery scared to let go of the heavy casket when the plot came in to view,
Birds were singing, sun was shining, tears were falling as they gripped the handles searching for the answers or another way to make it not be true,
We stood in silence as we came to closure,
Speaking soft goodbyes in different ways,
Brothers placed between the graves of brothers,
Fathers, mothers, daughters, sisters, sons and others here you'll lay,
We'll come back from time to time,
If you should ever need to talk,
If you should ever need to share a story,
Or reminisce on times of old.
Journey on in perfect peace now,
The next stage is your blank canvas.
